Clinton Criticizes Bush Administration On Economy

POSTED: 11:43 a.m. EST January 26, 2004 UPDATED: 11:55 a.m. EST January 26, 2004 SUNRISE, Fla. --

Former President Bill Clinton is criticizing the current administration for its economic policies. Clinton (pictured, left) said the United States' economy must keep growing for it to continue to be a world leader. He said Bush's tax cuts are causing huge deficits and threatening the retirement benefits of average Americans. He warned the deficits would have to be repaid by today's children.
Clinton spoke Sunday at the Office Depot Center as part of a South Florida lecture series. The crowd of 2,000 mostly Democrats paid up to $250 to watch him speak and cheered loudly when he showed up. "You can't be too enthusiastic. I'm not so young anymore. I might think I'm still president," Clinton said. Clinton said he would not endorse any of the Democrats running for president until after the party's nominee is picked because they all helped him during his administration. He is writing his memoirs in longhand -- and they should be finished in a couple of weeks. They are to be released later this year.
